I've seen Pamela Fox's example but there is no way to view her as3 in order to use it in other flash projects.
-ThanksT-BagXL7https://www.blogger.com/profile/07284411472174692153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741970181714760187.post-65478379779810098542008-06-16T13:54:00.000+01:002008-06-16T13:54:00.000+01:00Hi Pamela,Thank you for sharing. I think Google Maps API for Flash would be much more useful if it had a JavaScript API like the new Google Earth API.Bjørn Sandvikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16080335362672606377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741970181714760187.post-36555237578771877712008-06-13T19:56:00.000+01:002008-06-13T19:56:00.000+01:00Hey there-I just created a KML parsing class for A...Hey there-

I just created a KML parsing class for AS3, and made a demo of using it to display the Samples-in-Maps KML from the KML documentation. Check it out here:
http://imagine-it.org/google/flashmaps/KMLParser/KMLParser.html

You can right click and view source. Feel free to download it and try it with other KML files (and see what kind of optimization it needs).

- pamelaPamela Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15947664772001597300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741970181714760187.post-80629117860512796022008-06-10T03:47:00.000+01:002008-06-10T03:47:00.000+01:00I meant to say SVG/VML both times instead of SVG/K...I meant to say SVG/VML both times instead of SVG/KML the first time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741970181714760187.post-66849700675310555672008-06-10T01:09:00.000+01:002008-06-10T01:09:00.000+01:00I don't think Google Maps uses the SVG/KML combina...I don't think Google Maps uses the SVG/KML combination. The SVG/VML combo used by OpenLayers and Virtual Earth actually performs pretty well, and both render large vectors better than Google Maps. I did a quick test on the Google Maps Flex API and, unfortunately, performance with large vectors was still disappointing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741970181714760187.post-76340658289382426242008-05-27T19:41:00.000+01:002008-05-27T19:41:00.000+01:00Hi Bjorn,Great blog and clever approaches to thema...Hi Bjorn,

Great blog and clever approaches to thematic mapping. If you are interested in more data for producing KML thematic maps we have a new tool at http://finder.geocommons.com which has good bit of data in KML and shapefile format. We'll have some interesting thematic functionality coming up soon that should be relevant as well.

best,
seanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4741970181714760187.post-5700232160570395222008-05-15T16:52:00.000+01:002008-05-15T16:52:00.000+01:00Bjorn:We think this is a significant deal insofar ...Bjorn:

We think this is a significant deal insofar as using the Flash engine is capable of much larger geometry sets and the manipulation of their appearance.

Enjoy the blog quite a bit and feel it fills an important gap the the geo-blogosphere.

Thanks,

Brian TimoneyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
